Personal fitness training is for everyone. Many people benefit from having their own personal trainer to help them stay motivated and see real progress towards their fitness goals and a healthier lifestyle.
David Akroyd-Jones BSc Hons (Scientific Support) Sport and Exercise Scientist
About BASES: www.bases.org.uk BASES is concerned with setting,
maintaining and enhancing the professional and ethical standards of its
members who are actively involved in sport and exercise science. High standards are promoted in two
particular ways: 1. Through
the adoption of a strict
BASES
code of conduct to which all members must adhere. Violation of this
code of conduct can result in sanctions, including removal of
accreditation. The code of conduct serves to ensure a minimum level of
service to individuals or groups who make use of the range of services
offered by sport and exercise scientists. 2. Through
a system of BASES Accreditation, which serves as a quality assurance
mechanism. Accreditation helps to ensure that the level of service
received by a particular client is based on the best available knowledge
and practice. In order to achieve BASES Accreditation,
a member must demonstrate (by formal application within a peer-review
process) his or her competence to provide an appropriate level of service
to client groups. About REPS: www.exerciseregister.org
The
Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) has been set up to help
safeguard and to promote the health and interests of people who are using
the services of exercise and fitness instructors, teachers and trainers.
The Register uses a process of self-regulation that recognises
industry-based qualifications, practical competency, and requires fitness
professionals to work within a Code of Ethical Practice. Members of the
Register are given a card and registration certificate to prove their
qualification and membership.
